The Stirrings of Evil

The Chronicles XV
Day 14
After looking at the new duergar force, Samash and Tordek strode boldly into the room (though I think Samash is the only one who is bald) facing off against two duergar guards dad some strange crossbow appartus. After the opening round, they found themselves in trouble when the duergar mage lady from the Trading Post appeared, and started to throw fire at Samash. Also, at the same time, another magey dude appeared from behind the party, along with another guard, who proceeded to make Artaius and Kinsen's night bad, and Stabby's even worse by distracting them from the battle that Samash and Tordek were having. Eventually, heavily wounded, both Tordek and Samash managed to fall back enough to support each other and take some pressure off Stabby, who night wasn't improving that much, even when her allies started to drop the advancing duergar.
Things looked grim, until both the mage's were killed, then the party charged the crossbow thingys, (Stabby's night started to improve), and destroyed them.
Heavily beaten up and tired, the party had a quick look for loot, found some crowns and rubies, and had a nice long sleep.

Day 13
After waking up the wrong way, half the party drunk, the other upside down, the party decided to plot their own liberation attempts. The duergar made the first attempt easy for Tordek and Samash, who broke out, and tried to escape, but were re-captured in the duergar workshop, beaten unconscious and locked back up. At this point, the rest of the party stealth assaulted the Horned Hold, with Stabby getting the lock open quickly under stealth, and with the aid of Artaius and Kinsen, methodically killed the orcish guards. Halfway during the fight, Stabby spotted a dark-skinned dragonborn with a disturbing scar entering a chamber not far from their fight, and didn't appear at all concerned with the three heroes attacking the fortress. This same dragonborn, known as Arackgar, spent a few seconds taunting Tordek and Samash, before leaving them to their fates.
Soon after the party killed the orcs, they located not only the armory where Tordek's and Samash's equipment was, but also arrived in time to see Tordek flat on his face, having freed just his arms from the manacles holding him to the wall, but no the ankle restraints. Donning their gear, the now reunited party left the Hold so Tordek and Samash could heal back to normal. On their way out, Stabby and Artaius noticed Arackgar on one of the bridges, simply walk into some shadows and vanish.

Day 14
After spending a day resting and recovering, the party returned to the Hold, and this time assaulted the workshop where Tordek and Samash encounter a lot of duergar. This time, Samash and Tordek fared better, along with the rest of the party, killed the lot of them, including a very irritating (to Kinsen and Artaius) duergar scout, who kept disappearing from sight and sniping the party. After the battle, the party found some loot, then went exploring again, finding themselves in the western fort of the Hold, about to take on more duergar....

Day 11
After searching the rest of the Chamber, and finding a note to Murklemor Grimmerzhul, the party returned to the Hall of Seven. There they had some beer, and tried to work out where to go next. It took some prompting, and several uncomfortable moments, but my lot (eventually) decided to investigate the Grimmmerzhul Trading Post.
When they went in, Stabby tried to bribe the duegar guard with a gem, and apparently not being enough value, and Stabby being Stabby, tried to speed up the investigative process by inserting her sword into the nearest guard. This led to a confined fight, where two more guards showed up, and as Kinsen dropped the first guard, a mage showed up, blinded and stunned most of the party, and fled with the guards out of the trading post.
Given that Stabby was badly hurt, they retired to the Halfmoon Inn and had a couple of ales to calm themselves before they went back, whilst Kinsen had a quick look around for loot.
The party then, well Stabby and Kinsen, decided to buy some potent liquor to make a exploding potion, to lob into the trading post to clear the way. The bought, for the princely sum of 100 crowns, a bottle of Tripleshoom Brandy, taste tested it, then went with a slightly intoxicated Smamash back to the trading post.
They found the post deserted, so Kinsen and Stabby had a short drinking game with the rest of the Tripleshoom, whilst Samash and Tordek had a hunt for clues. Tordek found another note addressed to Murklemor, this one about more provisions for merchandise, whilst Samash found a locked boxed. Knowing he couldn't open it, Samash gave the box to Stabby to open, and being drunk, failed to understand what she should be doing with it, she threw it against a wall.
After a quick discussion on what job she should be doing as a "funds management" person, she eventually jimmied the lock, where the party foumd 50 crowns, and a +2 magic orb.
Deciding that they were all too drunk to continue, the whole lot of them returned to the inn to sleep it off.

Day 12
After waking up with a hangover, then curing with some "scale of the dragon", the party headed to the location mentioned on the note they had found in the Trading Post. As they entered into a large cavern, they noticed that the right side of the path dropped off sharply for a few hundred feet, and just ahead were three bastions, connected via bridges, hugging the chamber wall.
Deciding that stealth wasn't needed, Kinsen approached the portcullis set into the wall of the fortress on their side of the cave, and tried to sell the orcish guards that he was a delivery boy with a baked bread, cheese, tomato and meat product.
Normally, orcs aren't too bright, but one was apparrently clever enough to remember that Kedhira had come through a few hours before warning of a group of crazy people stabbing her guards. The orc guards promptly shot Kinsen full of bolts, nearly knocking him down, whilst they called for help.
Tordek rushed the portcullis, but couldn't force it up, until he noticed that the hinges opened the gate out towards him. Spying a lock, Stabby tried to help by picking it, and Samash charged forward to help Tordek open the portcullis. Artaius and Kinsen kept themselves busy by healing Kinsen, and shooting stuff back at the orcs who were putting spear shaped holes into Tordek and Samash.
Suddenly, Stabby got the lock open, and Samash, in a fit of over eagerness, threw the portcullis open, knocking Stabby back and giving her a nasty bruise. The orcs then charged out of the gatehouse, pushing the party back, and though my lot killed one orc and badly wounded another, Stabby got herself kicked off the edge of the cliff, but not before Samash got knocked out trying to reach her to help. Kinsen and Artaius decided that retreat was an excellent idea, so ran back toward the Hall of Seven. Tordek, in a valient effort to recover Samash, was also knocked out, and by the time Stabby managed to control her fall and climb back up the cliff, everybidy had vanished. Stabby headed back to the Hall of Seven to rejoin her friends, and found that Tordek and Samash hadn't returned as well.
Meanwhile, Tordek and Samash came around, stripped down to arming jackets, hanging upside down from leg irons, contemplating a way out.......

Day 11
After resting, the party investigated the trapdoor, and found themselves in a huge chamber shared between some hobgoblins and a huge wolf. Quickly, the party got through the door and fought the hobgoblins, and when some duegar showed up with hammers of flame, the party fought them too. My party won, and found some stuff, and a note from some duegar to the hobgoblins.
I thought the day was more eventful than that, but I was wrong...

Day 9

After having a little sleep, the party got up and went downstairs to breakfast. There, Samash was bothered by a tattoed human staring at him. The Tatooed man got up and sat himself down at the party's table, still staring at Samash. Before Samash could ask the man what his problem was, Sister Alina from Fellwood appeared, and asked the party to find the captured villagers of Westbush. The party agreed, finished their food, and headed towards to Thunderspire Mount, one of the notable peaks of the Iron Hills, not too far from Tordek's home.

Day 10

Nothing happened, apart from a dragon flying overhead, giving the party a good look

Day 11
Today they reached the mountain. Before entering between the massive minotaurian statues, Stabby improved them. Now they have two sets of horns! They then went into the tunnels, and rescued a halfling (one that overvalued himself!) from some Bloodreaver Hobgoblins. The halfling took the party to his Aunt's Inn in the Seven Pillared Hall, where he bought them drinks and offered them room. After chatting, the party found out that the Chamber of Eyes is where the hobgoblins were operating from, and following the halflings directions, they found the Chamber. Here, the party climbed a wall, killed some goblins and hobgoblins, and had an ambush turned on themselves, where Samash nearly got pasted. Well mostly pasted. The party found some cool stuff, including a new Axe and Belt for Tordek. I am tired now, but then so was the party, so we all went and had a nap.

Legend of the Troll Hunt Part 3

Day 3

After leaving Theurund, the party headed straight for Moonstair. Upon arriving, Tor decided to visit his Uncle Flint, who informed him of something that happened to him. His prize sword has been stolen. Flint suspects that it was done by a travelling Bard that recently arrived at the Village.
Tor and the gang start searching for this Bard and find him at the center of the Village performing for a very small group of villagers. After a very long talk, it was not the Bard, Mikal, who stole the sword, but another Bard pretending to be him.

After another search of the village, the party found out that this impostor has already left and was heading towards the ruins of Bavak. Hearing of this the party, now including the half-elf Mikal gave chase, hoping to catch up to this impostor.

Day 4

After the party arrived back at the ruins of Bavak, they started to look for the TrollHunt Warrens. Between Reggie and Tor, they were able to find the entrance. Inside they found a very sturdy looking door. Mikal knocked on the door. He tried to trick the trolls into thinking that he was delivering pizza. The Trolls may have been stupid, but they did not buy his story

Tor tried his luck and challenged the trolls to a duel. Accepting the challenge, the trolls let them in and sent for “Da Boss”. The party made quick work of the Trolls and pushed on.

The group then encountered an elderly troll and a big bear. The Troll was paying no attention to the party until Tor move a bit to close. The Troll summon some black fiery skulls which almost killed Odin and Reggie, the bear was squeezing the life out of Mikal. Then a panther pounced on the skulls allowing Reggie and Odin to free/heal Mikal. I had no idea where the panther came from until I notice that nothing was written down for Tor, therefore I put 1 and 1 together and worked out that Tor was the panther.

Anyway the very tired party is now resting, hoping not to encounter “da boss”…

Day 1

After following the messenger for about an hour or so, Ringram started to feel very uneasy. The Messenger made a sinister laugh before suddenly disappearing. The party was ambushed by some monsters, but Odin and Tor lead a good offensive ending in their victory.

A scouting party from Moonstair escorted the party back to the village and Tor was united with his Uncle Flint. Reggie and Tor spent the night with Flint while Odin and Rangrim spent the night at the Inn

Day 2

After meeting up at the Inn the party encountered a Dragonborn soldier named Bex whom survived an encounter with the Troll King. After giving them as much information as possible, Bex agreed to train the town guard. The party then spoke to the Mayor, who gave Odin some gold for delivering a package for her. The Mayor have told the group that she can provide transport to the closet ruins.

After being drop off, the part got to the ruins of Bavak just before nightfall. While exploring the ruins the group were ambushed by a Medusa and a couple of Grimlocks. Tor and Rangrim fought against the Grimlocks, but was struggling to hit them. Reggie was being occupied by another creature, which Rangrim finally felled with a mighty swing of his hammer. However the Medusa was causing problems for everyone, including Odin, who was suffering from hails of arrows (most were missing, but the ones that hit casued a couple of problems). The group was fairing well, until the unthinkable happened. The Medusa used its gaze attack which hit Reggie a number of times, but Reggie resist the effects quite well. After seeing that Reggie was a tough nut, the Medusa tried her luck against Rangirm, who unfortunately was turned to stone. Typical of Rangrim though, he was able to strike his favorite pose before completely turning to stone.

The Medusa quite pleased with herself forgot all about Odin. Meanwhile, Tor and Reggie killed one of the Grimlocks and badly wounded the other. Odin was very pissed at the Medusa, grappled with her via a very icy hand and soon fell. Before dying, the Meduse stuck again, turning Reggie to stone. Odin, with his quick thinking skills, opened a portal to Therund and the party went though.

As a lot happened at this point, I am just going to summarize everything. Reggie was returned to her former self, Rangrim could not be brought back, the party met with the Baron and informed him of the fate of his son. The Baron agreed to outfit the towns guard as best he could, provided transport back to the ruins of Bavak, and suggest to return to Moonstair and find his older brother’s daughter’s friend whose roommate is a bard and give him a letter asking him to assist the party.

What fate now awaits the party as they travel back to Moonstair? Only time will tell

The Legend of the Trollhunt

Day 1

The two Dawarves were walking down the road to Moonstair with a package for the Mayor when they encountered 3 green skin large creatures, also known as Trolls and an Ettin, a two head Giant. Odin the magic user was throwing fire like there was no tomorrow (well a number of fire spells were cast) and Rangrim was smashing the knee caps of the trolls in a nice fashion. Shortly after, they were joined by a Paladin and Warden and soon made quick work of the trolls.

The Ettin however kept pushing the poor paladin away from itself as he doesn’t like the company but soon feel victim to Rangirm’s hammer. As some very quick introductions, (don’t think they actually told each other there names) the 4 of them went on to Moonstair.

Before they could get to town however, they saw a very disturbing site. A horse was being torn apart limb for limb by a group of trolls (well normally disturbing, but Odin and Rangrim saw a good feast approaching). And so more fire was unleashed and more knee caps were broken, and divine power went through Reggie’s blade and delivered a might blow. An Oni Mage however spoiled their fun. But Tor and Reggie soon engaged this creature and the Oni Mage soon fled as quickly as it appear.

Loosing there commander, the remain trolls ran very quickly from the group, well on did, the others just simply disappeared into a big wall of fire (ouch). After the flames died down, next to the horse was a badly wounded messenger. Rangrim quickly healed him and for thanks, the messenger offered to take the party to Moonstair via a short-cut he knows through a wood area. Odin and Rangirm ask if they have to go through the woodlands to which the messenger replied “we can go through the mountain range but that a three day shortcut”. Not really a shortcut at all. Reggie and Rangrim were a bit unsure of the messenger, but decide to follow him anyway.

The Legend of the Trollhunt

I am the Divine Master Yalper Hataccer. I have been going through the Documents of old and have come across the Journal of an interesting tale. A tale about 4 adventurers journeying across the TrollHunt Warrens.

There were 2 Dwarves, an uncle and his nephew if I’m not mistaken, a half-Elf who likes to smite things and a Long-tooth Sifter, properly the mightiest warrior of his tribe.

I am going to recite the tale of these brave adventurers as the fight against the might of Trolls, Orcs, magic and other creatures that go boo. And so, their journey begins….

Day 8

So they slid down the chains, into a pool of blood. Standing in a magical glowing circle was the mighty Kaleral, a pair of skeletons and a little floating clay thingy. Nearby, next to a ugly statue of Orcus, was a wight (or was it a weft?). Now the party split up and Tordek and Samash went after the wight, quickly killing it, using Tordek's mighty blessing of Moradin (a axe to the face must be a pretty powerful dwarven blessing!).
They then turned to assist the others, Stabby having done a masterful job of getting stabbed, burned clubbed and bitten by all of the things in the circle, and falling to the ground nearly dead. Samash then healed her, as well as Tordek, and they all dived in to fight the skeletons and the clay thing. They quickly got rid of the skeletons once they got them out of the circle, then Kaleral did something funny to reality, nearly killing everyone, and then a big hand came out of the portal (did I mention the portal) then Stabby tried to run away up the chains and was hit by Kaleral's beam thingy and and (breathe Amataya).
Anyway, at this point, Kinsen went off to look at the altar, after having failed to disrupt the magic circle (he went boom then whoosh then thump!), and Morrowind changed into a primal beast thingy and tried to help the others fight Kaleral. They had Kaleral surrounded, and still couldn't hit him, and things looked bleak.
Then, Kinsen breaked broked destroyed the urn thing with a dragon tooth in it, with turned off the magic circle, and weakened the portal with the arm thingy in it (I mentioned the arm of shadow didn't I? It is important in a minute). At this point, Stabby stopped having a breakdown, and rejoined the fight and nearly killed Kaleral. She didn't, Morrowind hit him with a pointy dagger and Kaleral died. Well maybe, as the thingy in the portal (I said it was important) reached out and grabbed his body and pulled it through to the Shadowfell.
They all breathed a sigh of relieve, then picked up all the loot including a nice magic dagger, then went back to town.
In town, the party were greeted with cheers as they found out that they had beaten Kaleral, and Sir Esdrak gave them some money. Then when they went in the inn, they saw Alina, who gave them some more gold, and congratulated them on a quest well done. She then said she needed to talk to them, once they had rested.
Now thats all from me for a while, I am getting a break, yay.
